May's Program was The Culture of Divorce with guests Mary G. Marcus, Ph.D. and Marie Piccarreta.  The panel discussed the effect of movies such as Kramer vs. Kramer, The War of the Roses, and Intolerable Cruety and the change to no fault divorce on children, the public's attitude toward divorce and the divorce rate.

 

 Mary G. Marcus, Ph.D. has been a Psychologist Mediator for 12 years and has had a private practice of individual, couples and family therapy for 25 years. Dr. Marcus is an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution,  member of the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association, former President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation, a member of the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Psychological Association and serves as a Special Master for the Connecticut Superior Court.  Mary Marcus is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer. Marie Mendelson Piccarreta, of Old Pueblo Mediation Services, is a past chairperson of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Arizona. She is also an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Family Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution, a national organization for professional divorce mediation practitioners which grants membership to mediators who have satisfied its training, experience and educational requirements; as well as a past President of the Mediation Association of Southern Arizona and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association.

Ms. Piccarreta has received extensive and ongoing training in dispute resolution techniques and has been specifically trained as a divorce mediator both locally and by nationally recognized mediators. She has successfully mediated family disputes for the last fourteen years, including disputes arising from marital dissolution, property division, child custody, visitation, child support and spousal maintenance.
